Green fleet: Plug’n Drive partners with Uber Canada

Toronto, ON – On February 9, Uber Canada announced its decision to partner with Plug’n Drive, a non-profit organization that offers drivers the opportunity to learn about the switch from gas to electric. This partnership aims to support their environmental objectives by facilitating the transition to electric, which interests 71% of Canadian Uber drivers.

Part of Uber’s goal is to operate a zero-emissions platform in Canadian cities with supporting policies by 2030, and globally by 2040.

“It’s important to consider the total cost of ownership,” said Cara Clairman, CEO of Plug’n Drive. “We know electric vehicles are cheaper and better for the environment, but everyone’s situation is different. This program will help educate drivers about the savings they can save and reduce their carbon footprint by switching to an electric vehicle. »

Here are some facts about Uber’s electric vehicles:

  • Fewer breakdowns: electric vehicles have 20 to 30 moving parts, gasoline cars have nearly 2,000.
Idling: When idling, electric motors generally use less energy than an idling gasoline engine.
Morning charging: Most charging takes place at home and overnight, when cost and environmental impact are lowest.
